The Woodward wrestling team continued to make huge strides this season towards becoming one of the top wrestling programs in Georgia.

In addition to having a very respectable 29-6 dual meet record this season, the team qualified for the State Dual Championships in Macon, finishing in the top 5 in AAAA.  After a successful state tournament, the team focused on the area traditional tournament. The Woodward wrestling team not only had all 14 wrestlers place in this year’s area tournament, but also had all 14 become sectional qualifiers.  At the state sectional tournament, the Woodward wrestling team advanced seven wrestlers to the State Championships, with two qualifying as alternates. Three Woodward wrestlers fought their way to the podium at the State Championships.  Sophomore Malcolm Wiley placed 4th, senior Tucker Witmer placed 3rd, and freshman Nick Masters pinned his way to his first state title to help the team secure a top 10 overall finish.

With such a great showing this season and a huge crop of quality young wrestlers returning, things are looking bright for the Woodward wrestling team.
