
The girls track and field team also won its third consecutive Region championship this year.
The individual Region champions for the girls included Miriam Waters (100 M), Brooklyn Carr (1600 M), AnaSimone Guillaume (100 M Hurdles), Alex Potts (Pole Vault), Tajiah Gary (Long Jump), and the 4×400 Meters Relay team. The girls built on their Region championship to finish as AAAA state runner-up. Miriam Waters was the state champion in the 100 Meters and state runner-up in the 200 Meters, and Alex Potts was state runner-up in the Pole Vault. The 4×100 Meter Relay team of Tajiah Gary, Alexa Richardson, Simi Awujo, and Miriam Waters were state runner-up in a school-record time of 47.42, and the 4×400 Meter Relay team of Simi Awujo, Alexa Richardson, Grace Woods, and Miriam Waters ran a school-record time of 3:56.98 to finish 3rd in the state. Miriam Waters set two other school records during the season in the 100 Meters (11.81) and 200 Meters (24.40).

Tim Hamling, Head Coach
Since 2001, Coach Hamling’s teams have won 8 combined cross coutnry region championships, 2 cross country runner-up finishes and 2 individual state champions. In track and field, Coach Hamling’s programs have combined for 13 region championships, 1 state championship (2014), 1 state runner-up and 11 individual state champions. Coach Hamling coached girls basketball at Woodward Academy from 1995-2001. The team won the state championships in 1996 and 1999.
