
The boys track and field team won its third consecutive Region championship in 2018.
Individual Region champions included Alphonzo Overstreet (400 M), Sultan Simms (High Jump), Max White (Pole Vault), Kenny Frontin (Triple Jump), and Josh Armstrong (Discus). The team finished 6th at the AAAA state meet, as Sultan Simms was the state champion in the High Jump and Mike Wright finished 3rd in the 200 Meters. During the season, Malik Poindexter, Mike Wright, Hunter Sellers, and Alphonzo Overstreet set a school record in the 4×200 Meters with a time of 1:30.77.

Tim Hamling, Head Coach
Since 2001, Coach Hamling’s teams have won 8 combined cross coutnry region championships, 2 cross country runner-up finishes and 2 individual state champions. In track and field, Coach Hamling’s programs have combined for 13 region championships, 1 state championship (2014), 1 state runner-up and 11 individual state champions. Coach Hamling coached girls basketball at Woodward Academy from 1995-2001. The team won the state championships in 1996 and 1999.
