Girls Track & Field Watch

The Woodward girls track team had a banner year in 2017, winning the region championship for the second consecutive year and also finishing as the AAAA State Runner-Up.

Makenli Forrest was a region champion and state champion in both the shot put and discus. She also set school records in both events during the season. Alex Potts was State Runner-Up in the pole vault with a school-record vault of 13-0. Adair Sawyer and Sarah Olatidoye were 2nd and 3rd, respectively, at the state high jump competition. Miriam Waters placed 4th in the 100 Meters and set a new school record in the event during the season. Illana Jamison placed 6th in the state in both the shot put and discus, and Morgan Brinson placed 7th in the 200. The 4×100 meter relay team of Madison Williams, Sarah Olatidoye, Tajiah Gary, and Miriam Waters placed 6th. Earlier in the season, the team of Tajiah Gary, Morgan Brinson, Erica Brooks, and Miriam Waters set the school record in the event. Across the board, it was a record-setting year for the Lady War Eagles.
