Woodward Academy Varsity Girls Golf

Woodward Academy’s girls golf team finished the 2018 season as the GHSA AAAA State Champions.

The Lady War Eagles captured the state title at the Innsbruck Resort and Golf Club in Helen, GA.  The team held a 10-shot lead over 2nd place Central-Carroll after day one of the championship.  Inclement weather hampered day two of the tournament and with Woodward still holding a 10-shot lead after 12 holes of the 2nd day, the tournament was suspended with the Lady War Eagles capturing the title.  Junior Ayanna Habeel finished as individual runner-up, carding a first round score of 75.  This season’s championship marks the team’s 6th state title and 2nd in the last three seasons.  With all four state qualifiers set to return next season, the Lady War Eagles will be looking for a repeat performance in 2019.
