The Woodward girls lacrosse team finished their season strong.
They clinched a berth in the region playoffs as a 3-seed, after a season-defining region victory over Henry County in the last game of the season. The War Eagles unfortunately lost to Whitewater High School in the first round. The region continues to gain momentum, with many south side teams continuing to make their mark in the state, with the first ever state title won by a southside team this 2019 season.
Sophomore Sarah Carnes was chosen to compete in the GA DiVarsity All Star Game, alongside Coach Armstrong, who was selected to coach. The Woodward varsity program had five girls recognized on the All-Area 7 1st team and 2nd team. Seniors Ella Bennett and Madison Polk were selected to 1st team, alongside their sophomore goalie Sarah Carnes. Making All-Area 2nd team was senior Olivia Henderson and junior Megan Millner.
The War Eagles will build upon the foundation and strength they found together this season, and continue to climb in 2020.
