The Woodward girls swim team showed incredible improvement throughout the season, defeating North Atlanta, Pace Academy, Walker High School, and Westminster.
At the Metro City Championships, the girls came in 7th place overall, with Woodward’s medley relay and 400 free relay both finishing in the top 10. Individually, Alissa Cook (200 IM), Nora Singh (100 Fly), Alissa Cook (100 Back) all finished in the top 10 in their respective events as well.
The GHSA State Championships were held on February 6 at Georgia Tech. At this meet, Woodward’s medley relay placed 2nd overall with a time of 1:50.84. The girls also had top-10 finishes from Cook in both the 200 IM and 100 Back. The team placed 12th overall at the state championships, which put the War Eagles up six spots from their 18th place finish a year ago.

Danielle Lefevers, Head Coach
A 2008 Woodward graduate who swam for the varsity team while in school, Coach LeFevers attended Furman University for her undergraduate degree, where she was a member of the club swimming team. After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in education, she attended the University of Michigan for her Master of Arts in teaching and learning. While at Michigan, Coach Lefevers swam for a Masters swimming program in Ann Arbor. Coach LeFevers has also worked at Swim Atlanta for several years, in addition to being a part of Swim Atlanta’s Masters swimming team. For the 2015-2016 season, Coach LeFevers served as an assistant coach for Woodward’s varsity girls’ swimming team.
