Girls Basketball Watch

Girls basketball team shows heart despite small roster.

This was a successful season for the Woodward girls basketball team. Despite a small roster, the ladies came together and gave their best effort every night. It speaks volumes when members and fans of the opposing team remark how well the girls played or that it was the best game that they’ve seen all season. Those statements were all a testament to the heart that the girls displayed every game and every practice. Led by seniors Tyler Collins (McDonald’s All-American Nominee and First Team All-Region), Madison Williams (All-Region Team Honorable Mention) and Cameron Gifford, the Lady War Eagles finished 3rd in the region and were able to make another run in the state tournament. It was truly a fun and amazing season for the girls basketball program!

Kim Lawrence, Head Coach (5 years)

Woodward’s Class of 2000 graduate Kim Lawrence has been the head coach for girls basketball since 2012. A graduate of Furman University, Kim played professional basketball in Holland for 2 1/2 years. Under her supervision, the Lady War Eagles have amassed a record of 52 wins and 37 losses with annual appearances in the state tournament as well as making it to the elite eight. As a member of the 1999 state championship basketball team, Kim looks forward to bringing that tradition back to Woodward.
