The 2016-2017 girls basketball season ended a little quicker than the War Eagles would have liked, with a loss in the first round of region tournament play, but the overall experience was an enjoyable one.

The girls improved their individual skills, gained more confidence in themselves and each other, and, most importantly, grew together as a family, bonding both on and off the court. While the season might not have ended as well as they would have liked, the War Eagles gained needed experience that could prove invaluable in the future.

Although the War Eagles will lose four talented seniors, whose leadership and effort will be greatly missed, Woodward is returning a group of players deeply committed to a successful 2017-2018 season.

Kim Lawrence, Head Coach (4 years)

Woodward’s Class of 2000 graduate Kim Lawrence has been the head coach for girls basketball since 2012. A graduate of Furman University, Kim played professional basketball in Holland for 2 1/2 years. Under her supervision, the Lady War Eagles have amassed a record of 52 wins and 37 losses with annual appearances in the state tournament as well as making it to the elite eight. As a member of the 1999 state championship basketball team, Kim looks forward to bringing that tradition back to Woodward.
