Clay Target
2020-21
The Woodward Academy clay target team had another outstanding season this fall, winning several events and finishing fifth overall at the Georgia Independent Schools Association’s (GISA) State Championships.
The team opened the season winning the Tom Lowe Competition, and finished the regular season schedule capturing first place at the Chuck Weatherington Fall Classic. In November, the team competed in the GISA State Championships, held at the Forest City Gun Club in Savannah, Georgia. The team placed fifth overall, turning in their highest overall team score ever recorded for the War Eagles. Robert Hicklin, Preston Wright, and Colin Caldwell led the team, with Preston taking fourth in Sporting Clays, Robert fourth in Skeet, and Colin fifth in Trap. In the ladies competition at the GISA Championships, Abbey Christensen placed fifth in the HOA competition, which is a combined total for all events. Abbey placed fifth in Skeet, sixth in Sporting Clays, and ninth in Trap. Meg Morris contributed a fifth-place finish in Sporting Clays and seventh in Skeet. Courtney Raymer was sixth in Trap and sixth in Skeet, while Abby White was seventh in Skeet and eighth in Trap.
