
The varsity baseball team finished with a 24-7 record in 2017, and capped off the year by winning region 4AAAA.
In the state tournament, the War Eagles won the first round of the playoffs in two games over Mary Persons. In the second round, Woodward was beaten by Heritage Catoosa, with the third game going into extra innings before Heritage came away with a 19-18 win. The War Eagles had a host of players receive awards for their outstanding play. Ryan Glass was named Co-Player of the Year by the region coaches and was named to the All-State team by the Georgia Dugout Club. He will be attending Georgia State in the fall on a baseball scholarship. The following players were named to the All-Region team: Cade Sutherland, Payton Christensen, Ethan Cornelius, Josh Johnson, Hunter Falconer, Darien Wiggins, Christian Wylder, Mason Carnes, and Jordan Sayles.
