We sat down (virtually) with girls soccer player and senior Maddy Cronin to talk to her about her beginnings in the sport and how she’s staying prepared while on lockdown.

Wrestling

The Woodward Academy wrestling team has a rich history of success and a long list of state and national accolades.

Girls Basketball

The Woodward girls basketball team finished this season with a 27-4 record.

Boys Basketball

The 2019-2020 Woodward Academy boys basketball season was one for the history books. The War Eagles defeated Cross Creek HS 75-56 to win the Georgia High School Association Class 4A State Championship!

Swim & Dive

The boys and girls varsity swim teams had a fantastic 2019-2020 season. This season, the boys team finished with a 6-2 record, and the girls team finished with a 5-3 record.

The Leading Edge of Athletics: eSports

It isn’t played on a field, in a pool, or on a court. Players don’t tackle or dribble, and there are no raucous crowds in the bleachers cheering them on. In fact, there aren’t even bleachers. Participants are seated, but they aren’t riding bikes—unless, that is, PlayVS decides to add a particularly involved racing game to the eSports menu this spring.

Volleyball

Woodward Academy’s varsity volleyball squad plays one of the toughest schedules in the state every year with their sights always set on contending for another state title.

Football

The Woodward Academy football team had an outstanding season this year, finishing with a 13-1 overall record and a perfect 10-0 regular season record. The War Eagles captured their fifth region championship in the past six seasons, advanced to the AAAA State Semifinals, and will finish ranked as one of the top four teams in AAAA.

Cross Country

After completing a competitive regular season, the boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Region 4-AAAA Championships at Nash Farm Battlefield.

Softball

The War Eagle softball team completed the region schedule with a 4-4 record and a fourth place finish at the Region 4-AAAA tournament. The War Eagles once again qualified for the AAAA State Playoffs, falling to top-seeded Perry in the first round.

Clay Target

The Woodward Academy clay target team had another outstanding season this fall, winning several events and finishing fifth overall at the Georgia Independent Schools Association’s (GISA) State Championships.
The team opened the season winning the Tom Lowe Competition, and finished the regular season schedule capturing first place at the Chuck Weatherington Fall Classic.
