Girls Golf Watch

The Woodward girls golf team finished another outstanding year as this year’s AAAA State Runner-Up.

The Lady War Eagles finished day one of the state championships just three strokes off the lead and in prime position to make a move on day two.  Unfortunately, heavy rains forced the cancellation of day two and made day one results official.  Sophomore Ayanna Habeel shot the low score for Woodward with a 5-over par 77, while senior Susannah Cole finished tied for 8th place.  In addition to coming within three strokes of the state championship, the Lady War Eagles captured their 17th region/area championship, which qualified the team for the state meet. Habeel also led the team at the Area Championship, capturing low medalist honors with an even par round of 72. All told, it was another excellent season for the Lady War Eagles, who will look to build on their success and earn another shot at a state championship next year.
