From the Athletic Director: Winter 2018

Dear War Eagle Nation,

I welcome you to explore the Winter 2018 edition of War Eagle Watch that highlights our winter sports teams including basketball, swimming and diving, and wrestling.

It takes tremendous commitment on the part of our student-athletes to balance the challenging academics here at the Academy with a fierce dedication to their sport. I am continually impressed by the resolve of these young people to represent themselves, as well as our school and community, with dignity through both wins and losses on the athletic fields and courts.

This enthusiasm and drive is exemplified by the 14 student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent on February 7 to play collegiate level athletics at Division I, II, and III colleges and universities across the country.

We also enjoyed a boys basketball Region 4-AAAA Champion title, a runner-up finish for boys swimming at the State Championship, and a 4th place finish for the wrestling team at the State Traditional Championship this season.

I hope you enjoy reading our winter season team recaps along with a Q&A with junior wrestler Malcolm Wiley. And as we enter the last couple of months of the school year here at Woodward, I hope to see you supporting our spring student-athletes, teams, and coaches to show your War Eagle pride!

Go War Eagles!
